Benefits Of Drinking Aloe Vera Juice

There are many benefits of drinking aloe vera juice. Some benefits include better gut health and increased collagen production.

What is Aloe Vera Juice?

Aloe vera juice comes from the plant aloe vera. Aloe vera is a succulent that grows in hot, dry climates. It is a plant that has many health benefits when used both topically and orally. Aloe vera has been used for thousands of years but recently it has grown in popularity!

An aloe plant is 99% water. When cut open, aloe vera is gel-like and kind of gooey. To make aloe vera juice you:

  1. Cut off an aloe leaf
  2. Cut all around the inside of the leaf to take out the gel center
  3. Rinse the gel
  4. Blend the gel with water

Health Benefits of Drinking Aloe Vera Juice

Gut Health

Aloe vera juice is claimed to be a great remedy for constipation and gut health. It keeps the gut bacteria balanced and also helps your metabolic rate. It has detoxifying properties which help cleanse the body and gut.

You can use aloe as a continuous gut health cleanse, drinking it daily. Or you can use it when needed. It should relieve constipation within a day or two.

I have added aloe vera juice to my daily diet by putting a tablespoon of aloe in a smoothie. I saw great improvements in my gut health by doing this every morning! My oldest daughter struggled with constipation for about a year before we turned to aloe vera juice and stopped over-the-counter laxatives. We have noticed so much relief that she is no longer taking aloe vera daily, but when needed.

Lowers Stress

Aloe vera juice can aid in stress relief! Aloe is full of antioxidants, which helps lower stress and the risk of chronic diseases such as diabetes. This is true for having an aloe vera plant in your house, also. Aloe vera plants clean the air while reducing your anxiety and stress levels.

I love to keep aloe vera plants in the bedroom. It is so beneficial to the air that you breathe all night. It is also low maintenance and requires minimal watering. My daughters love watering their aloe vera plants while learning all about their medicinal properties!

To find a great aloe vera plant I recommend going to a local flower or plant shop. They usually know all about the best plants to keep indoors for health benefits! They can also help you pot or re-pot your aloe vera plant and learn when and how much to water it. It also helps support a local business, which is always a bonus!

Increased Collagen Production

Collagen is a protein in your body that is made up of amino acids. It gives structure to your skin, muscles, and bones. Collagen also helps to make your tissues resilient. There are many health benefits to taking collagen supplements. Some benefits include healthier joints and improved skin elasticity.

By drinking aloe, it increases collagen production in the body. This gives your skin a youthful appearance and reduces wrinkles. Who wouldn’t love fewer wrinkles?!

If you put aloe on your skin, it will help heal cuts by helping strengthen the collagen in the wound area.

Glucose Levels

Aloe vera has the properties to help reduce glucose levels in type 1 diabetics, type 2 diabetics, and pre-diabetics. This will, therefore, help reduce A1c in diabetics.

One study shows that drinking aloe vera daily for four weeks can decrease glucose levels in pre-diabetics.

Another study shows that drinking aloe vera daily for two to four weeks can decrease glucose levels in prediabetics and type 1 diabetics.

My 8-year-old daughter has type 1 diabetes. She has consistently taken aloe vera orally. Along with aloe vera helping her gut health, I have noticed a more stable blood glucose number.

How I Drink Aloe Vera Juice

I add about 1 tablespoon of aloe vera juice to a smoothie before I blend it. You don’t taste it at all! This is how I sneak it into my kid’s diets, also!

I began giving my oldest daughter aloe vera juice daily when she started complaining of stomach aches and constipation. It has been about a year since this began and her stomach aches are all but gone! I believe aloe vera juice helped reduce them along with some other life changes including adding daily beef liver and magnesium to her diet.

I drink aloe vera juice at least 3 times a week. I used to drink it daily and didn’t have any issues but have read that if you drink too much it may cause diarrhea and a stomach ache. You will want to look into this or ask your doctor before drinking it daily if you are concerned.
